| I
believe I can make a difference. |
‘You must be the change you wish to see in the world.’ |

Summary:
If
there is one thing you should believe, it’s that you can make a difference. However small or large, however
intangible or tangible. Don’t let apathy
or doubt ever stop you from doing something great.
Fear of failing and looking stupid has stopped many a man from having
dreams.
If so, the tragedy of your
life won’t be that you didn’t achieve your dreams, but that you didn’t have any. Don’t let the possibility of a
negative outcome dissuade you from starting something worthwhile. You may be ignored, ridiculed, even
resisted – but you will savor the sweetness of victory when you succeed. So, dream, believe, go, achieve.
The primary reason for people not
making an effort to create any change in the world is pure pessimism and sheer
skepticism. Human beings are experts in rationalizing: ‘how can one person make a
difference?’ ‘even if I changed, what
about the other millions of people,’ ‘change cannot happen with me alone.’ Which
is precisely the point of this Pledge. You
are that change. You can make a
difference. Even if a small, tiny,
miniscule piece of change was implemented,
but it was implemented by all the
people of the world, imagine the massive change it would create.
‘If you think you are too
small to be effective, you have never been in the dark with a mosquito’ (Betty
Reese)
So keep the
faith.
If each of us
individually forgave one person, imagine the impact of peace created across the
world.
If each of us
individually promised not to litter the streets, imagine the impact of
cleanliness initiated across the world.
If each of us
individually helped a single person in need, imagine the impact of compassion
and love generated across the world.
If each of us
individually sends this Pledge to everyone
we know and all of them, single handedly, sign and circulate it to everyone
they know, imagine the domino effect
being generated for which you are catalyst.
Imagine the
change already started by the people of the world for the people of the world.
Imagine. Implement. Impact.
